The Early Years is a manuscript I started in 1991 and hope to finish some day. It attempts to describe my childhood in the Netherlands, emigrating to Canada, and my days as a merchant seaman. Faces of Saigon is a collection of photos I took when I returned to Vietnam in 1991. Despite decades of war, I was struck by the resilience, entrepreneurial spirit and optimism of the people I encountered.
